Children's Eyecare
It is recommended that children receive eye examinations from the age of three. At Thornton Optometry & Co, we use shapes and pictures rather than words to help us monitor the muscles that control your child’s eyes and ensure that everything is working correctly. If needed, our highly experienced dispensing opticians will then talk to you about suitable eyewear for your child.

Buy your spectacles where you have you eyes examined.
We would stress the British College of Optometrists advice to all our patients, that there is “no doubt that the safest place to purchase spectacles is from an optical practice on the high street, where professional advice and fitting ensures clear vision and comfortable wear.”
As prescribing and dispensing of spectacles are closely linked it is best to have your spectacles dispensed where you have your eyes examined. It is often more difficult to resolve any problems you may have with your spectacles when prescribing and supply are separated.
So, it is better to have your eye examination and lens prescription, then select your spectacle frames in the same practice.
